EAGLE BOY'S TRACK AND FIELD TO BE A SMALL GROUP, BUT LOOK TO BE COMPETITIVE
Head coach for the Eagles, Tom Schoenfelder, said that he may have a small number of athletes out but they are very talented. What is going to be their Achilles heel is not being able to fill the events.
The Eagles are returning Mitchel Wilson who was a state qualifier in the 300-meter hurdles. Schoenfelder looks for freshman, Isaac Hamilton, to contribute in the triple jump and high jump.
Southern Valley will begin their season at the Hi-Line Triangular on March 16th.
EAGLE GIRL'S TRACK AND FIELD OPTIMISTIC FOR A COMPETITIVE SEASON
Tom Schoenfelder has a small group but is very optimistic about this season for his girl's track team. His squad is very young and is made up of 10 talented girls who look to compete hard.
Ann Bose is a returning state qualifier in the high jump where she placed 4th at state last year. She holds the Southern Valley school record with a personal record of 5'5". Schoenfelder looks for freshman Tori Bose to contribute in the throws.
The Eagles will begin their spring season with the Hi-Line Triangular on March 16th.
SOUTHERN VALLEY RETURNS WEALTH OF EXPERIENCE TO GOLF SQUAD
The Southern Valley Golf Team looks for experience to lead the way in 2023. Head coach of the Eagles, Jeremy Epp returns a great group of golfers that could have the potential to make some noise at conference, districts, and state. "We believe the season will see student-athletes compete at a high level with great competition with everyone returning. Varsity competition will lead to better scores over the course of the season," said Epp.
For the Eagles, they return three-time state qualifier and senior Matt Henderson, along with two-time state qualifiers Kamden Bose and Braxton Hammond who are juniors. "We are a team that is hungry for success with great confidence and we are poised to make a point to compete every day," Epp added.
Southern Valley will start the season on Friday, March 24th at the Alma Triangular.
