Alma was the #1 seed in the C2-10 subdistrict tournament and they were set to take on #4 Thayer Central. The Cardinals were unable to get the win as they fell 48-41. Alma closes out the season with a record of 13-5.
Arapahoe played Southwest in the D1-11 subdistrict tournament. Arapahoe was the #4 seed and Southwest the #5. Arapahoe fell to the Roughriders 53-47. Arapahoe was led by Ander Wasenius as he scored 12 points in the game. Arapahoe ends the year with a record of 9-16.
Bertrand was the #1 seed in the D1-9 subdistrict and they faced Southern Valley, the #4 seed. The Vikings fell in a back-and-forth affair, 52-49. Bertrand was led by Thunder Nelson and his 20 points. The Vikings end the year at 12-10.
Cambridge was the #3 seed in the D1-11 subdistrict and they played #2 seeded Hitchcock County. The Trojans fell to the Falcons, 65-36. Brady Ahlemeyer had nine points as did Carson Trompke. Cambridge ends the year at 11-13.
Dundy County Stratton hosted the D1-11 subdistrict this past week and came away with a couple of wins. First, they took down #5 Southwest 73-43. Jackson Kerchal was effective with 17 points and eight rebounds. Then they took on #2 Hitchcock County and won big again, this time 63-42. The Tigers (21-4) will now play in the D1-5 district final versus #12 Humphrey-Lindsey Holy Family on Monday in Kearney at 7:00 P.M. from Kearney High.
Hitchcock County competed in the D1-11 subdistrict this past week. First they played Cambridge and won 65-36. Then they played #1 seed DCS and lost 63-42. The Falcons end the year at 13-10.
Maywood-Hayes Center competed in arguably the toughest subdistrict in the state, the D1-10. They began with Elm Creek the #3 seed as the Wolves were the #2 seed. Maywood-Hayes Center won 50-40. Haydn Farr had a monster game with 20 points. Hayden Kramer had 13 points and 10 rebounds in the game. Then, the Wolves played the #1 team in class D1, St. Pat's. They fell to the Irish 40-39. Hayden Kramer had 16 points six rebounds and five assists. The Wolves though, qualify for a district final despite the loss. They are the #2 seed with a record of 24-2 and will play #15 seeded Loomis on Tuesday at Maywood, tip-off at 7:00 P.M.
Maxwell played in the C2-11 subdistrict this past week. They were the #2 seed and were taking on #3 seeded Hi-Line. The Wildcats lost 56-51. Maxwell had a big game from Easton Jones with 14 points and Trevor Cohn with 16 points. Maxwell ends the year at 9-15.
Medicine Valley played in the D2-9 subdistrict this past week and found success. They were the #2 seed and they played #3 seed Brady. They won in a close one over the Eagles, 74-73. Then, they played #1 Wallace and won 55-48. The Raiders are 6-16 and will play in the D2-1 district final on Monday at 6:30 P.M. in Shelton against the Bulldogs.
Paxton played in the D2-10 subdistrict tournament this past week. First, #2 seeded Paxton beat #3 Hyannis 59-33. Josh Eakins had 19 points, Isaiah Fox had 18 points and Rylin Johns had 15. The Tigers then faced Mullen in the #1 seed and won by 10, 48-38. Eakins was solid again with 18 points, Fox had 14, and Johnson with 12. Paxton, now 16-5, will play in the D2-6 district final, as the #6 seed versus #11 seeded Stuart on Monday, in Broken Bow at 7:30 P.M.
Southern Valley competed in the D1-9 subdistrict as the #4 seed. First, they played Wilcox-Hildreth and won 60-39. Then, the Eagles played Bertrand and won in a close one 52-49. Then, Southern Valley played in the subdistrict final versus Loomis and lost 61-45. Southern Valley ends the season at 11-11.
Southwest competed in the D1-10 subdistrict this past week. Southwest, the #5 seed, began with a win over #4 Arapahoe, 53-47. Krayton Ruggles led the Roughriders with 10 points. Southwest then played #1 DCS and lost 73-43. Southwest ends the season at 7-13.
Wallace was the #1 seed in the D2-9 subdistrict and ended up having their season cut short. They first beat Wauneta-Palisade 62-46. Trey Robertson had 15, Matt Lungrin had 11, and Masen Messersmith had 10. Wallace then played Medicine Valley and lost 55-48. The Wildcats end the season at 8-13.
#4 seeded Wauneta-Palisade played in the D2-9 subdistrict tournament. They took on Wallace, the #1 seed and lost 62-46. The Broncos end the season 3-18.
