ARAPAHOE TAKES DOWN SOUTHERN VALLEY ON THE ROAD




It was a Furnas County battle on Thursday evening as the Southern Valley Eagles hosted the Arapahoe Warriors. Arapahoe, came into the Eagles stadium and found success on the ground with a 69-42 win.


The Warriors came out quickly as they scored on their first two drives as Grayson Koller ran in from six yards, and then Rafe Hill punched it in from two yards to make it 14-0 with 4:00 to go in the first quarter. Southern Valley though, answered at the 1:22 mark in the first quarter.


In the second period, Arapahoe goes on a scoring rampage as Trenton Roskop scores on a four yard pass to Dylan Bahe, and then five rushing touchdowns between Koller and Roskop. The Warriors put up 33 points in the quarter. But the Eagles hung around as they put up a pair of touchdowns as Bose hit Mitchel Wilson on a 35-yard touchdown pass at the 2:28 point, and then Wilson again with 1:29 to go in the half, this time from 70 yards out.


Arapahoe went to the half up by four scores 47-20.

In the second half, Arapahoe picked up right where they left off as Koller scored again, this time from 33 yards out, and the score read 55-20. The Eagles answered on another long pass from Bose to Wilson and Southern Valley trailed 55-26 with 4:00 to go in the third. It became a back and forth affair as Hill for Arapahoe scored from 19 yards, then Southern Valley scored again on a pass from Bose to Grove.


Going to the fourth quarter, the Eagles trailed 62-34.


In the fourth quarter, Hill scored on a long 34 yard run to advance their lead to 69-34. From their the clock was running, but the Eagles weren't going to let that stop them from scoring on another big pass play from Bose to Wilson of 40 yards to round out the scoring at 69-42.


"We did what we wanted to do. We played with more energy than we have the last couple of weeks so that was good," said Dustin Kronhofman, head coach of the Arapahoe Warriors.


The numbers were interesting in this one as Arapahoe had 445 yards of total offense and Southern Valley had 435. But the Warriors worked with a shorter field a number of times as Southern Valley utilized squib kicks throughout the game.


The Warriors had 386 yards rushing and the Eagles finished 419 yards passing in the game.


Arapahoe was paced by Grayson Koller and his 192 yards and five touchdowns and Rafe Hill had 123 yards and three touchdowns.


Kamden Bose had 419 yards passing and six scored through the air and his leading receiver was Mitchel Wilson with 12 catches for 230 yards.


Arapahoe moves to 4-3 and will take on Sandhills Valley on Thursday next week


Southern Valley is 0-7 and will battle Alma next Friday.
